Who is Chris Mack?
Chris Mack was with the UofL men’s basketball team for less than four years after being named as the head coach on March 28, 2018.
Mack was the coach of Xavier, his alma mater, for nine years and led the Musketeers to four Sweet 16 appearances.
His time was not met without controversy including his former assistant coach Dino Gaudio being charged in federal court just months after being fired and Mack getting suspended to six games in 2021.
Louisville said he “failed to follow University guidelines, policies and procedures,” in his firing Gaudio, The Courier Journal previously reported.

Was Chris Mack fired?
Although the team’s bad performance was not a selling point for his stay, the former coach was not fired.
The school stated that the parties “mutually agreed to part ways effective immediately,” The Courier Journal previously reported.
Where is Chris Mack now?
Although he said in March 2023 that he was not ready to return to coaching, Mack said in February he would explore his options to get back in the game.
“I've learned a lot over the two head coaching jobs that I was fortunate enough to be a part of, so, you know, we'll see,” said in the WXIX-TV interview.
“I miss it. There's some things I really miss about the game, about being a part of the team day in and day out. So I've really enjoyed the time away. I think I've learned a whole lot, studied a lot of basketball. And so, again, we'll see. It may not happen, but we'll see."
In the interview, Mack said his two daughters "are out of the house" and he wants to do more than work out and be with his son.
"And not that I don't love my wife, but you know, I need a purpose," he said.

The Hologic WTA Tour moves to the clay next week at the Credit One Charleston Open and the Copa Colsanitsas in Bogota, Colombia. The WTA 500 event features a strong field once again, including World No.5 Jessica Pegula, defending champion Ons Jabeur, and Charleston's own Emma Navarro.
Here's what you need to know about Charleston:
The Credit One Charleston Open is the first WTA 500 tournament of the clay season and the only clay-court WTA tournament in North America. The tournament is played on outdoor green clay (Har-Tru) at Live to Play Daniel Island, home of Credit One Stadium. The Dunlop Grand Prix Regular Duty ball will be used.
The tournament features a 48-player singles field (with 16 first-round byes) and a 16-team doubles field.
Main-draw play begins on Monday, April 1.
Charleston, South Carolina is on Eastern Daylight Time (GMT -4).
Both singles and doubles finals will be played on Sunday April 7. The doubles final will begin at noon, followed by the singles final at 2:30 p.m.
Ons Jabeur captured the title last year, defeating defending champion Belinda Bencic 7-6(6), 6-4. The final was a rematch of the previous year's final, which Bencic won 6–1, 5–7, 6–4.
In doubles, Danielle Collins and Desirae Krawczyk defeated Giuliana Olmos and Ena Shibahara 0–6, 6–4, [14–12].
The entry cut-off was based on the Hologic WTA Tour rankings on March, 4. Paula Badosa was the last direct entry at No.73. Wild cards were awarded to Beatriz Haddad Maia, Caroline Wozniacki, Shelby Rogers and Clervie Ngounoue.

A new restaurant is coming to a mixed-use community on Johns Island.
Set to open this summer in the 16-acre Hayes Park development, The Heyday will be a "modern sea island counter service café, market and bar using farm to table produce, fresh seafood and local purveyors," owner James Groetzinger said.
"We're excited to be reinvesting in the island," said Groetzinger, owner of Island Provisions, a daytime café with locations on Johns Island and in downtown Charleston.
Season 14 "Top Chef" alum Emily Hahn, who previously led now-closed Charleston restaurants Warehouse and The Getaway, will oversee menu development at the 605 Kindred Court eatery.
Hahn, who owns a private chef business named Mountain Provisions in Montana, makes frequent trips to Charleston and will be heavily involved in The Heyday's opening.
"We've been friends for years," said Groetzinger, who owned Warehouse for 10 years before its 2023 closure. "Her style of food was exactly the vision for what we wanted."
"While my company is based in Bozeman, Mont., it is always a pleasure to work on a project in Charleston and the Lowcountry, where part of my heart will always remain," said Hahn, who served as Warehouse's executive chef from 2013-2017. "I am excited to help James and his team’s vision come to life with my culinary influences."

The owners of MOMO catering — which operates MOMO Restaurant at Riverfront Park in North Charleston — are expanding their kitchen to Crowfield Golf Club in Goose Creek.
Justin and Iryna Moore signed a five-year contract this week to take over the food and beverage operations at the 18-hole course, including a full-service restaurant and outdoor bar for both members and the public. The Moores will begin running the Crowfield bar on July 1. They said they look forward to returning to the city where they operated their first restaurant .
“This is where it all began for us, so it’s an honor to have the opportunity to serve the community in the beautiful, renovated clubhouse and outside bar pavilion,” said Justin Moore, who also serves as MOMO’s chef and was previously an executive chef at Harold’s Cabin in Charleston.
Patrons of the restaurant will be able to enjoy casual fare to fit the golf course atmosphere, with sit-down dinner options that will feature some of MOMO’s fan-favorite staples.
Last year, the city solicited and opened bids for independent operators to take over and shake up the food scene at Crowfield. After narrowing down the finalists to the top three, Goose Creek City Council approved the agreement with MOMO at its March 26 monthly workshop.
Crowfield General Manager Troy Sanders, who was among the officials who interviewed and analyzed the finalists, called MOMO an “ideal partner” for not just the club but the city.
“We have heard from our current customers about what they would like to see the dining experience include, and MOMO fits that bill to a tee,” Sanders said in a statement. “We are looking forward to the community supporting a really good restaurant in Goose Creek.”
Crowfield has been owned and operated by the city of Goose Creek since 2003.

Chris Mack is back in the coaching ranks, replacing Pat Kelsey at Charleston after the 48-year-old took the head job at Louisville this week. Kelsey served as the associate head coach on Mack’s staff at Xavier from 2009-11 before getting his first head coaching gig at Winthrop (2012-21), then taking over the Cougars in 2021. Meanwhile, Mack coached the Musketeers to a 215-97 record from 2013-18 before replacing Rick Pitino with the Cardinals from 2018-22, fired midway through the ’21-22 season after the school said he violated guidelines amid assistant coach Dino Gaudio’s alleged extortion attempts. He closed out his time at UofL with a 63-36 overall record.
Now, the College of Charleston is sticking with the Mack coaching tree by hiring Mack himself, The Field of 68’s Jeff Goodman reported late Friday. The former Louisville coach had been a podcast co-host for The Field of 68 since becoming a free agent in Jan. ’22.
Kelsey replaces Kenny Payne with the Cardinals after he led the program to historic lows, finishing with a 12-52 record in two seasons under his watch.
After taking some time away, Mack recently made it clear he was interested in returning to coaching if a ‘good fit’ presented itself.
“For the first time since the whole Louisville time, I’m gonna sort of look at the options and see what’s out there and see if it’s a good fit,” Mack said, via Joe Danneman of FOX 19. “And if it is, then it’s probably something that I’ll end up jumping back into. But it has to be the right fit. I’ve learned a lot over the two head coaching jobs that I was fortunate enough to be a part of. So, you know, we’ll see.”
“… I need a purpose. … I miss it. There’s some things I really miss about the game, about being a part of the team day in and day out.”
It won’t be for Kentucky’s arch nemesis, but Chris Mack is back as a head coach.

DANIEL ISLAND — The Credit One Charleston Open is the largest women-only pro tennis tournament in North America, drawing thousands to Credit One Stadium each spring.
As is customary at this event and other tennis tournaments like the U.S. Open, specialty food and beverage offerings are a focal point for organizers of the annual WTA Charleston 500 Tennis Tournament, set to take place March 30-April 7.
OVG Hospitality has been in charge of concessions at this and other Credit One Stadium events since January 2020. Each year, the group that services hundreds of venues — including the Charleston Gaillard Center — tries to improve and expand the options, said OVG General Manager Travis Maynard.
“They have a vision,” Maynard said. “Our job is to put it into reality.”
Ahead of the 2024 tournament, OVG Hospitality turned one of the tennis complex’s hard courts into COCO Row, a food court located adjacent to Credit One’s Grand Lawn. That dining area, inside the ticketed grounds, will feature food from 167 Raw, Mpishi, Orlando’s Pizza, Home Team BBQ, Verde and Playa Bowls.
The tournament’s food truck village, located outside the stadium but inside the ticketed grounds, will welcome Mr. Poppers Popcorn, Motley Chew, Bangin’ Vegan Eats, Kona Ice, Chick-fil-A, Mama Dot’s and King of Pops. Charleston favorite Life Raft Treats will also pop up inside the food truck village with a specialty dessert made for the event.
Known for making edible works of art resembling fried chicken, peaches and even Thanksgiving dinner, owner Cynthia Wong’s North Charleston-based company will be selling a tennis ball-shaped key lime ice cream treat, dipped in white chocolate and hand-painted by a member of the Life Raft Treats team.
Inside the stadium on the main concourse, tennis fans can grab lunch or dinner at the BHC Bistro, serving one bite each from Sorelle, Meeting at Market, Charleston Grill and The Palmetto Cafe. Sorelle will serve a mortadella sandwich, Maynard said.
Tournament attendees looking for those classic sporting event snacks — popcorn, pretzels, fountain sodas — will find them in the main concourse. The Stadium Classics stand features those options plus the Charleston Dog, covered in heirloom tomatoes and bacon jam.
For drinks, the event’s purple-shaded signature cocktail will combine butterfly pea flower with Lowcountry Lemonade, Grey Goose Vodka and club soda. Craft beer drinkers can visit the New Realm Bar, dedicated to Daniel Island brewery New Realm, and Moët & Chandon will be poured throughout the grounds; whether you’re dipping into the Moët Coastline Lounge or grabbing a quick bubbly beverage in a Moët vending machine, added to the stadium ahead of the tournament.
When it comes to the action on the court, the Credit One Charleston Open’s field is stacked with talented tennis players, with the main draw featuring Grand Slam champions, top 10 players and former Charleston Open champions.
Last year’s winner, Ons Jabeur, will attempt to defend her title against the likes of Jessica Pegula, Victoria Azarenka, Madison Keys and Emma Navarro, the daughter of Charleston philanthropist and Union Pier purchaser Ben Navarro, among other notable participants.
